More than ponies is what I truly hope they will be if you choose to purchase one...
As a horsewoman of over 40 years, I've personally experienced and seen the benefits of training, riding, and caring for God's creation...the horse. I spent years of fun for myself competing and winning many trophies on my own horses, but my greatest rewards came when I shared my horses and ponies in giving riding lessons. I saw the difference they made in all ages. I have past students continue to say "those were some of the best memories of my life...riding a little pony named Pinto."
Pinto was not intimidating like the big horses...the students could saddle, lead, get on & off...just have fun! They learned there's a lot more to ponies than just riding...they have to be cared for daily and depend on us to be there. One student told me, "I can't just turn a key and turn them off. I have to be on my toes, but in turn, they love me back!"
I'm calling on horse people young and old...if you can train a big horse, why not? Why not ground drive and train a pony for your family to cherish? They cost less and are easy to keep, but require a relationship where they trust you to train them. In building that trust, you have to be consistent in your commands to them and be very repetitive. They learn by how consistent you are. Sounds like we could all use this, especially as parents. It's hard to find good ponies because no one trains ponies like they would the horse they compete on, yet a good pony could be taught all the same things and enjoyed by the whole family. The ponies also make good companions.
Just as I believe it takes time to build relationships with others, so it does with these ponies. I've already seen God at work as I watch my little stallion care for his mares and his foals. He constantly watches over them, yet he is calm and gentle with me...because I earned his trust to care for his family.
They're more than ponies....
